Lausanne Hotel School (EHL)
A blend of professional and interpersonal skills
Founded in 1893, Lausanne Hotel School (EHL) is the first and oldest hotel management establishment in the world. It is the most widely recognised school of its kind at international level.
Situated high above the outskirts of the city, the school has trained over 25'000 senior managers in the hospitality industry since its inception. Over 2'200 students representing nearly 90 nationalities currently attend courses there.
Courses are taught in English and in French at the EHL, which works in partnership with the hospitality industry both in Switzerland and abroad. This model allows employers to become involved in the processes of recruiting students for work placements and future employment, and to quickly identify those who meet their requirements, mentor them and supervise their training. Long-term links are thus forged between the profession and the EHL, as are privileged relationships between employers and students who are then able to chart their own careers.
From the outset, teaching at the EHL on the world of hospitality has covered technical and cultural aspects alike. The college provides numerous professional perspectives on the hospitality industry, including hotel management, marketing, hotel legislation, events management and human resources, as well as other areas of activity such as the financial, banking and luxury sectors.
Unique research in Switzerland
The Research Department at the EHL is the only university-level research centre in Switzerland that specialises in applied research for the hospitality sector. It brings together researchers and professionals and helps to spread new findings and innovative practices in the world of hospitality.
