New discovery: Brasserie de Montbenon
The Brasserie de Montbenon is an unbelievably beautiful building in the center of Lausanne. The restaurant has only recently reopened, and I must say that it was worthwhile waiting. The colors are light, the decoration is modern and homely (only the gallery has a different style), and the room just grand and spacious, as you can see on the photo. Concerning chow, traditional „French Brasserie“ dishes were updated and mainly regional products used. I tried Cordon bleu with a chicken from a local croft, farmer’s ham and mountain cheese. To be recommended! Moreover, the servings are huge. It’s also great that the Brasserie is open seven days a week. In the summer there is a beautiful terrace with a view of the park and of course Lake Geneva and the mountains.
Eligo - plain but fashionable
Great restaurants have recently opened in Lausanne. The Eligo is one of them. The former chef of Beau-Rivage Palace opened a beautiful luxury bistro in the center of Lausanne. Plain but fashionable, the ideal restaurant to surprise my wife (It was about time!) and we were not disappointed: alert waiters and great food. I think the photos will tell the story! My definite insider tip.
Bleu Lézard et sa Cave, arty bistro
As a select meeting place for the people of Lausanne since 1992, this arty bistro and its little underground sister, La Cave du Bleu, are a local institution: eclectic, welcoming, relaxed and atmospheric. Highlights include the inventive seasonal cuisine, the delicious Sunday brunches, live concerts by local and international groups, dancing to party-loving DJs – not to mention the famous Messages evenings, Blind-Tests and iPod Battles, exhibitions and cafe-theatre events. Le Bleu is a reflection of Lausanne itself: alive and kicking!
2 parties de badmington en famille
The beach snack bar in Lutry is a little seasonal restaurant located, as its name suggests, right on the shore of Lake Geneva in a rustic setting. A perfect venue for a summer meal, even if it is still only springtime. The menu posted on a slate by the cash desk focusses on summer dishes that are easy to prepare: salads, grilled meat, burgers, tartare dishes; there are also fondues and cheese platters. A highly recommended venue for family meals, as kids can enjoy themselves in the surrounding play area.

Summer sales at Camille
A Lausanne institution: Camille, who owns the boutique of the same name, knows all there is to know about fashion. The shop features international designers for men (Dries Van Noten, Melinda Gloss, Acne, Roberto Collina, Notify, Veja) and women (Isabel Marant, Dries Van Noten, Paul Smith, Acne, Notify) as well as a selection of Swiss designers like Prism or Sôla. In the footwear section there's a delicious range by Chie Mihara. This is the sort of intimate boutique you might encounter in Paris, London or New York: a place to visit for its variety, warm welcome and good advice.
12 jeux Helvetic Lausanne
A bar serving surprising cocktails and a restaurant with refined cuisine ideally located on Place de l'Europe in Lausanne’s city centre. Here you can enjoy your morning coffee, a tasty dish of the day, a delicious dessert, tea served in the pot, tapas, wine specialities or your favourite molecular cocktail.
Pompes Funèbres and Pomp It Up
The name of this shop is a clever pun on the word pompes, which is slang for shoes, and pompes funèbres (meaning undertakers). This shop in the Flon district is a paradise for shoe-lovers, whatever their choice of style. Whether you need pretty heels for a sophisticated party, gumboots for a rainy day or a pair of flip-flops, this is the place to come! Better still, if you’re looking for the latest Nikes or a pair of stylish Converse trainers, just pop across the road to Pomp It Up, where you will find all the major brands of sports shoes such as Nike, Adidas, Converse, Lacoste, Asics, Puma, Keds and many more!
