Squash in Lausanne
A sport of endurance and strategy, squash is played on a fully enclosed rectangular court with a stringed racquet and a rubber ball. As the name “squash” suggests, the discipline originated in England during the 1830s, from where it was exported to the American continent from 1885. The British Open is the most prestigious tournament, and this sport is currently dominated by Canada, Scotland and Great Britain.

Alcatraz Squash Renens
Built in 1997, the club has 5 squash courts, which are continually monitored and maintained to play in complete safety in a pleasant setting. The reception has a small bar serving cold drinks and also offers sandwiches, bircher muesli and other snacks. The club sells all manner of squash gear as well as clothing. Equipment may be hired on the spot. There is a wide variety of ongoing activities, such a mini-leagues, interclub events, tournaments, group training sessions and private lessons. On several occasions Alcatraz has staged international tournaments within its walls and the best teams in Switzerland have played matches there.
