Press release - Photo contest 2013
A photo contest to discover the unusual in Lausanne
Lausanne Tourisme is launching a new photo contest following the success met by the 2011 edition entitled “Lausanne caught in the lens, one summer season”. From July 1, amateur photographers and enthusiasts can send their best shot on the theme “Lausanne, its unusual sights and places”. Dream week-ends for a total value of over CHF 10,000.- will be awarded on September 12 as a result of the web audience's votes and a jury of experts.
A Thai pavilion facing the Ouchy quays, a dog cemetery in a palace's garden, a weeping beech planted almost 160 years ago, a high-tech building shaped like a wave, a vineyard in the town centre… These are just some of the distinguishing features found in Lausanne that are now part of its heritage and the places to visit for tourists passing through.
To highlight the unusual sights and places in our city and to (re)discover it under an original angle, Lausanne Tourisme is launching a contest open to all amateur photographers who are of age, whatever their nationality and place of establishment. They will have the opportunity to send their shot (one per person) as from July 1 until August 25 2013 via the MyLausanne Facebook page.
From August 27 to September 10, the Facebook community will be able to vote for its favourite photo by “Liking” it. Four prizes will be awarded to the photographers who collected the most votes. A jury of experts will also be constituted to present four distinctions to the best photographers. Some photos will be published in the summer 2014 edition of the Lausanne Image magazine.
The prizes will be awarded to the winners on September 12, during a walk guided by Pierre Corajoud to discover the city's unusual sights.
