Press release - Photo contest 2013
The unusual in Lausanne inspires close to 200 amateur
During the summer 2013, Lausanne Tourisme organised a photo contest on the theme “Lausanne, its unusual sights and places”. Close to 200 amateur photographers took part. Four of the eight winners were designated by a jury of experts, the other four as a result of the web audience's votes on the facebook.com/mylausanne page.
An “unusual sights” walk guided by Pierre Corajoud on September 12 will provide the opportunity to present the winners with eight dream week-ends.
Following the success met by the 2011 edition of the photo contest on the themes of
water and sports, a new challenge intended for all amateur photographers was launched on July 1 by Lausanne Tourisme on the theme of the unusual. The aim was to highlight some of the particularities found in our town – now part of our heritage and the places to explore by visiting tourists.
A surprising, real-life scene, a place unknown to local citizens themselves, a monument captured under an original angle… The 190 participants in this contest have shown much imagination and a strong attachment to Lausanne through their lens. Some 120 photos were finally accepted according to the contest's criteria.
Thanks to the support of many sponsors, amongst which several Swiss hoteliers, the CGN and the Hebdo, eight dream week-ends in Lausanne, the canton of Vaud, Basel and Zurich will be given for a total value of CHF 10,000. Four prizes will be awarded by a jury of experts, the other four as a result of the web audience's votes.
The prizes will be presented to the winners on September 12 2013 during a walk guided by Pierre Corajoud to discover the city's unusual sights. This outing is organised by Lausanne Tourisme for its members and will be rounded off by the awards ceremony in an – obviously – unusual place.
The winners and the award-winning photos are published and downloadable on our site www.lausanne-tourisme.ch/concours-photo/gagnants
