Free transport and discounts
The Lausanne Transport Card innovates as from 2015!
Since its creation in 2008, the Lausanne Transport Card provides free public transport to every guest staying in Lausanne and the surrounding area, and paying the overnight tourist tax. As from 2015, this personal card will also enable guests to benefit from substantial discounts on the boat crossing between Lausanne-Ouchy and Evian, souvenirs and the admission price to various municipal and private museums.
Thanks to agreements with various partners of the town, Lausanne Tourisme is able to expand the offer linked to the Lausanne Transport Card (LTC), distributed to over 400,000 people every year. It is given to every guest paying the overnight tourist tax in Lausanne, Bussigny, Crissier, Chavannes, Ecublens, Romanel-sur-Lausanne, Lutry, Pully or Saint-Sulpice as soon as they reach their accommodation. They can then travel for free on Lausanne's public transports (bus, train, metro), according to the map of pricing zones defined by Mobilis.
As from 2015, tourists in possession of the LTC will also benefit from many discounts, that is:
- Up to 50% off the price of admission (adult or child individual ticket) to 11 museums in Lausanne and Pully
- 20% offered by the Compagnie Générale de Navigation (CGN) on the crossing between Lausanne-Ouchy and Evian
- 30% on an hour of bowling at the “Bowl Bar Flon”
- 20% on a selection of items from the “Bazar d’Ouchy” gift shop
Over 600,000 communication supports
This news will be communicated on over 600,000 supports published by Lausanne Tourisme, as the information will be announced in the tourist office's various annual brochures and 300,000 specific flyers distributed in hotels together with the LTC. New media are not forgotten as the web site and social media will also relay the information.
Lausanne transport card as from 1998, a first in Switzerland!
A first Lausanne Card was launched in 1998 at the instigation of Lausanne Tourisme, a first in Switzerland at that time! Most museums in Lausanne and Pully had then followed the initiative, as had the municipal swimming pools and skating rinks, and other partners. The card was then abandoned in 2004, at the time the new Mobilis transport ticket was brought in.
In 2008, a new card, the Lausanne Transport Card, was implemented, financed by Lausanne region's Equipment Fund through the tourist tax. Until the end of 2014, it only provided free travel on public transports in Lausanne and the surrounding area.
