Philippe Saire Dance Company
Philippe Saire says of dance: "The great thing about dance is that it can be exported all over the world. The movement of the body is a universal language. My company tours widely, on every continent in fact."
Compagny Philippe Saire has been based in Lausanne since it was founded in 1986. The creative work done by the company has contributed to the rising popularity of contemporary dance both in French-speaking Switzerland and abroad, with thirty or so productions and more than 1,000 performances in over 200 towns in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and America.
Compagnie Philippe Saire regularly appears at exhibitions and in art galleries, gardens, urban spaces and other non-theatrical venues.
The preferred setting for its productions is Théâtre Sévelin 36, in Lausanne.
From 2 to 13 November 2016 at Théâtre de Sévelin 36
With the help of astute design, Philippe Saire cuts the set and the public in two – literally. With five male and female dancers he invites you to a game of perceptions and makes doubt a virtue. Suspense!
In CUT, the seating and the stage are divided in two by an opaque curtain. During the evening the two sections of the audience swap sides and the piece is performed again from the beginning.
The audience thus perceives it from a totally different angle… CUT invites us to experience uncertainty and to doubt our convictions. More than a piece of choreography to watch, CUT is an experience to be lived.
