10 - 11 September 2016
23rd European Heritage Days
A cultural event now part and parcel of the early autumn, the European Heritage Days will be held on 10 and 11 September 2016. This year's theme is "Oasis of cities, oasis of fields".
On offer will be an unforgettable experience with unprecedented access to some urban monuments.
The occasion will see the city of Lausanne become a place to discover heritage, where monuments and other locations reveal their secret histories.
Here is the Lausanne programme:
Literary circle. A haven of peace and culture
- Meeting with the author François Rosset
- Readings accompanied by music from the actor Lionel Frésard and the cellist Katerina Gancheva
- Round table “Lausanne: The heritage of literary salons” with Daniel Maggetti, director of the Centre de recherche littéraire, Léonard Burnand, director of the Institut Benjamin Constant, and Ariane Devanthéry, cultural historian
Montchoisi swimming pool. Wave and ice machines
Former spa entertainment hall. Discoveries in the heart of an islet
On this tour you will discover the history of this group of buildings as well as the restoration work that has already been completed. A visit to the site of the former entertainment hall, or Kursaal, will reveal this great space as well as traces of the recently uncovered painted decoration in art deco style.
