24 November to 31st December 2016
Lausanne Festival of Light
The Christmas lights in Lausanne will be an event in their own right: Lausanne Festival of Light will take place between November 24 and December 31 of this year. This latest edition will feature thirteen artists from Switzerland, France, Germany and Finland who work with light, bringing it to life by means of projections and sculptures or simply as a staged production.
The thirteen projects will be installed in bustling places in the city centre, including Place de la Gare, Place de la Palud and Rue Saint-Laurent, giving visitors the opportunity to discover an eclectic programme of art as they go through the city.
This fifth edition of the festival will include a new "fringe": the "Next" Lausanne Festival of Light. The concept is aimed at the region's young artists and designers who are passionate about the role of new technologies in the artistic use of light, giving them the opportunity to display their work in Lausanne's shop windows during the festival.
From 24 November, the opening date of the festival, members of the public will come across illuminated works all over the city.
There are also guided visits every Thursday evening from 24 November to 29 December.
