For nearly a century the International Olympic Committee has found on the shores of Lake Geneva, in Lausanne, a place of welcome from where it can spread its message of peace and universality.
Situated between lake and mountains, vineyards and forests, Lausanne offers – quite apart from lovingly preserved natural beauty (to which its inhabitants are strongly attached) – the infrastructures and advantages of a modern and dynamic city whilst retaining its human dimensions. To this can be added the support of the local authorities and that of the people. These conditions, ideal for the development of an international body such as ours, make Lausanne an exceptional city and the Olympic Capital.
The IOC is keen to thank Lausanne, its authorities and its people for their support and welcome throughout these nearly one hundred years of shared history.
