Thai pavilion open to the public from September 29, 2007
After 18 days of assembly, the royal pagoda has finally taken up position in the northwest section of Denantou park. Open on three sides and illuminated until about 11pm, the Thai pavilion will welcome Lausannois and visitors alike throughout the day and into the evening.
A gift from Thailand to the City of Lausanne, where the king studied, the small painted wooden structure is sixteen metres in height and has a finely carved roof topped by an arrow. Designed by a famous architect in Thailand, the edifice was assembled under the supervision of his assistant by Thai craftsmen and artists in collaboration with the parks and promenades department of the City of Lausanne.
