Sailing: Grand Prix Beau-Rivage PalaceFrom September 18 to 20, 2009
Final regatta and «justice of the peace» for the Julius Baer Challenge 2007, the Beau-Rivage Palace Grand-Prix has become a must-see classic thanks to its attractive format, famous ocean-going sailors and the spectacle on offer just a short distance from Ouchy quays. The aim of the Beau-Rivage Grand Prix is to organise a race on the waters of Lausanne and to take advantage of the exceptional setting provided by the Beau-Rivage Palace.
At the end of the weekend, the successor to Alinghi, the leader of the Julius Baer Challenge, will be announced In 2007, a dozen or so ocean-sailing stars, specially invited for the occasion, came face to face in the Beau-Rivage Palace Grand Prix, competing for the traditional Marco Landolt Trophy. But as the great names of sailing have become regular participants in the Julius Baer Challenge, the competition’s Multi-Hull Association (AMC) decided to change the concept of this prize. From now on, the prize will be awarded to a navigator, in recognition of his/her significant contribution to the world of sailing. www.challengejuliusbaer.com
