Lausanne has been committed to sustainable development and to ecology for many years. The Agenda 21 Program, the Quartiers 21 participatory project, World Water Day, "One Tree - One Child" Day, the Eco-Awareness Trophy... each year the city offers different initiatives in order to raise public awareness.

Since 2000, Lausanne Agenda 21 has involved all aspects of municipal action in order constantly to improve the quality of life for the city's residents and its guests, with a view to the sustainable development of the planet.
