Firmly anchored in the socio-economic fabric of Switzerland, the Universities of Applied Sciences (HES - Hautes écoles spécialisées) offer education at university level that is practically orientated and which facilitates rapid entry into the employment market. The city is home to six institutions of this type: the "Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne" (EHL - Lausanne Hotel School), the "Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne" (ECAL - Cantonal Art School of Lausanne), the "Ecole d’ingénieurs du canton de Vaud" (EIVD - Engineering College of the Canton of Vaud), the "Haute école de gestion du canton de Vaud" (HEG-VD - Management College of the Canton of Vaud), the "Haute école pédagogique vaudoise" (HEP - Pedagogic College of Vaud), the "Haute école de la santé la Source" and the "Haute école cantonal vaudoise de la santé" (HECVSanté - Component Institution of the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland). These colleges contribute to the enrichment of vocational education in Lausanne and the city's external image. Conditions of admission vary according to the area of education. You can apply for a place at an HES with a baccalaureate or diploma, and especially a professional diploma acquired during a "Certificat fédéral de capacité" (Federal certificate of capability having completed an apprenticeship). |
