Working toward energy-conscious consumption

For twenty years, the Municipality of Lausanne has encouraged energy saving and the use of resources that create as little pollution as possible.
The City is improving energy consumption in community buildings thanks to an energy reviews and remote management. It also encourages businesses and individuals to be more open to renewable energy: solar, wind, water, wood, or even geothermal power.
In addition, it supports remote heating – by making use of the waste from the TRIDEL factory in particular – and the use of gas instead of oil to reduce CO2 emissions.

Display Campaign, Energy Labels for Buildings

Lausanne has embarked upon the European Display campaign, the goal of which is to give citizens a sense of responsibility regarding energy consumption. In public buildings, appliances, lamps and cars are given labels which make it possible to evaluate energy and water consumption, as well as CO2 emissions.
The Lausanne campaign has already evaluated the energy performance of 160 buildings, including schools, so as to familiarize children and young people about it.

Solar Heating in the Home

Lausanne suggests solar power to its residents to complement their heating and to benefit from environmentally-friendly, endless, and free energy! Installation is easy for any heating system. The first 100 interested people will receive support from the City and a participating provider.

The Industrial Services invite you to use renewable energy for your electrical needs, coming from a photovoltaic kit (solar energy) or the wind turbine in Collonges, Valais. Additionally, using solar power gives you a clean energy supply and supports efforts to develop green energy.

Ecological Mobility: Expecting Better…

The community supports vehicles running on natural gas by providing financial assistance toward the purchase of a new vehicle. While waiting for the green revolution among automobiles – biofuels, hydrogen engines, etc. – natural gas for vehicles is a very interesting intermediary solution from an ecological perspective.
Economically, the gas is also very advantageous. In Switzerland, it reduces fuel costs by 30% compared to petrol and by 20% compared to diesel.
The City also supports the purchase of electric bikes, a good way both to keep fit and to travel down the Lausanne slopes without causing pollution!
