Working toward energy-conscious consumptionFor twenty years, the Municipality of Lausanne has encouraged energy saving and the use of resources that create as little pollution as possible.
The City is improving energy consumption in community buildings thanks to an energy reviews and remote management. It also encourages businesses and individuals to be more open to renewable energy: solar, wind, water, wood, or even geothermal power.
In addition, it supports remote heating – by making use of the waste from the TRIDEL factory in particular – and the use of gas instead of oil to reduce CO2 emissions.
Energy and Sustainable Development
Energy satisfies many of our needs: heating us, getting us around, using household appliances running on electricity, etc.
However, energy consumption creates problems on every level: air pollution and negative effects to our health, the greenhouse effect and glacial melting, exhaustion of natural resources…
It is therefore necessary to be economical with this precious resource by measuring our consumption in our homes, our businesses, and the places we go. |
