Open to the general public from 7:00am to 12:00 midnight, the Rolex Learning Center, a startling and spectacular structure designed by the internationally renowned Japanese architects SANAA, covers an area of 20,000 square metres and accommodates services, libraries, information centres, social areas, study rooms, restaurants and cafés, all forming a giant wave opening out onto a magnificent landscape on the doorstep of Lake Geneva. A new symbol for Lausanne, a city of training and research... or when science and technology meet man! The designers of the EPFL Rolex Learning Center, the Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, received the Pritzker Prize, the highest and most prestigious award in the world of architecture. The laureates have also completed other major international projects, such as the Christian Dior building in Tokyo, the Kunstlinie cultural centre in Almere (NL) and the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. |  |
