Switzerland’s hidden gem, Lausanne, has just launched a new free GPS app that’s designed to delight the Treasure hunters and gamers of all ages. From the park of Mon Repos to the quays D'Ouchy, at the shores of Lake Geneva, participants will be able to make, thanks to various interactive clues, the magic potion set to cure a lake-bound sports team of aqua phobia ... and win a prize. Families can download the free ‘Aquaphobia’ Geologix application, choose the classic or junior version (featuring easier challenges), and set off on a ‘geocaching’-style treasure hunt, starting in the south of the city centre and spanning a gentle 4 km distance.
The app allows participants to imagine a scenario whereby a Swiss sports team came back from the last championships with a curse of aqua phobia- highly unfortunate when operating a pedalo in the middle of Lake Geneva. With plans to take part in the next Olympic Games ... You, the coach, then decide to take matters into your own hands and to conduct the extensive investigation. By answering different questions and solving different puzzles along the way, you will be able to harvest the eight plants that form the aqua phobia antidote. As gamers reach the lakeside region of Ouchy at the end of course, they will be able to complete the challenge and claim their treasure.
With challenges and stopping points at key cultural icons and landmarks throughout the city, families can subtly inject cultural titbits while keeping the little gamers happy- an excellent workout for both body and mind. And with the final point of the challenge bringing participants down to the lake, what a perfect excuse to explore the lake itself. Perhaps in a Pedalo.
