By showcasing some sixty rarely seen works, some on display for the first time, the exhibition sheds light on another aspect of the painter’s career.
Alongside his oil paintings, Giovanni Giacometti (1868-1933) was also a lifelong watercolourist. His views of the Engadin valley and Val Bregaglia, as well as a handful of interior scenes and portraits of friends and family in watercolours were planned as fully fledged works of art, quite apart from his other creative endeavours.
