The Olympic Museum in AR can be downloaded free from the App Store and Google Play until the end of November 2021.
Nine unique experiences in the Olympic Park and the Museum.
Thanks to your smartphone, sakura trees in flower, a zen garden with koi carp and augmented reality sports manga characters will take you into the world of Japanese culture. The welcome from the Tokyo 2020 mascots will delight Japanese cartoon fans. You can also relive the lighting of the Olympic cauldron at the three Games editions to have been staged in Japan, and get a 360° experience of the new Tokyo National Stadium!
The app also encourages digital intercultural engagement by including a fun creative feature. Various elements of Japanese culture and the Tokyo 2020 Games can be superimposed onto your own environment to create an augmented collage. This creative feature can be accessed from your own home, wherever you happen to be!
At The Museum, this creative element has also been developed through Lausanne - Tokyo AR workshops for children aged 11 to 15, to help them explore augmented reality technology and cultural diversity.
Each month, a competition on social media will be held to find the best three images shared using the hashtag #olympicmuseum. Strike a pose, get creative, do something original, and perhaps you will win a fantastic goodie that you can pick up directly from The Olympic Museum shop, the TOM shop!
