Tracing Provenance

Musée cantonal d'archéologie et d'histoire
Invisible Collections 2021.
Since 2016, the MCAH has been studying the conditions of acquisition of its ethnographic collections. By means of a few examples from America, Africa and Asia, this exhibition invites visitors to investigate the documentary "chain of custody" of an object, from its entry into the Museum back to its creation, to establish its provenance. It also considers its current position and its relationship with the culture from which it originates.

Free admission (get a free ticket in the shop at the entrance of the building).
Palais de Rumine, Frédéric Troyon Room (1st floor).
