La Cité

ArchitectureHistoryHeritageShopping
This is a quarter full of typical small bistros and craft shops. To the north of the Cité hill, at Place du Tunnel, avenue César-Roux avenue and Place de l’Ours, shops and quirky bistros cry out to be discovered. It is around the Cité hill, sculpted by the Flon and Louve rivers, that the mediaeval town grew. Its cobble-stoned pedestrian streets as well as its monuments, the Cathedral of Lausanne, the St-Maire Castle and the Old academy, bear witness to that.

Hermitage Park

Nature
This magnificent country park boasts one of the best vantage points in Lausanne. But the panoramic views are by no means the only attribute of the Hermitage. As the setting for an internationally renowned museum and spectacular trees, it blends nature and culture at the same time.

More info

Long known by local regulars as the Café des Amis, this friendly restaurant has for some years now been renamed the Ristorante Amici. The warm welcome awaiting you is just the same, but the traditional brasserie food of the old days has been replaced by top-class Italian cuisine.

After a career in the best Italian restaurants in Lausanne (Accademia, Saint-Paul), owner Francesco Limardo has now opened his own family restaurant. The dining room seating forty is always full and table reservations are strongly recommended. The menu changes approximately every two months, but there are always carpaccios of beef or fish, fresh pasta and generous desserts. Like in Calabria, citrus fruit is often in evidence, to refresh salty dishes and sharpen the sweetness at the end of the meal.
