Get ready to pop the champagne … 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … It’s the new year! And in 2022, we’re sooo impatient to experience fab times in Lausanne. Come and explore the year’s unmissable highlights with us.

1. Van Gogh Alive

Until February 20, 2022

If you haven’t experienced it yet, hurry and immerse yourself in the famous painter’s world. The ultimate joy is to lie back on the cushions provided to make the most of this uber soothing moment while admiring the masterpieces that unfold before your eyes. If you’re looking for a gentle way to begin the year while recovering from your New Year celebrations, this is the perfect option (yes, it is even open on January 1st!).

2. The Lausanne Cross Country

January 29, 2022

No more excuses this year, we’re taking up physical activity! Sporting the most beautiful legs in Switzerland does require some effort. So we put our best foot forward in January with the Lausanne Cross Country. What’s more, “Cross-country is a true school of running that is ideal to prepare the season”. That doesn’t come from us, but from the event’s organisers. Just what’s needed to start the year by working off the (too) many festive meals (we just knew we should have said no to the inevitable “would you like an extra helping?”).

3. Les Printemps de Sévelin

From March 1 to 20, 2022

New year equals new discoveries. For us, that means booking tickets right away for Les Printemps de Sévelin, THE festival of contemporary dance in Lausanne. A great advantage is that there’s no need to be good dancers ourselves to appreciate the show, as we’ll be comfortably seated in the audience. Phew!

4. Rencontres du 7e Art Lausanne (Think Cinema)

From March 12 to 20, 2022

Red carpet warning! We’re heading to Hollywood or Cannes thanks to the Think Cinema Festival. What’s more, we were just told in our earpiece that groupies will have a field day this year, considering who the guests are… We’ll keep it a surprise.

5. FIH Hockey5s Lausanne

From June 4 to 5, 2022

Attending a world’s first event: check! All those attending the Hockey5s tournament will be able to tick that item off their bucket list. It’s at Place de la Navigation in Lausanne that international teams of this hockey discipline will compete for the first time.

6. Inauguration of the mudac and Photo Elysée at Plateforme 10

June 18, 2022

AT LAST! We’ve been waiting impatiently for this moment and it is in 2022 that the inauguration of the mudac and Photo Elysée at Plateforme 10 will take place. For sure, our patience will be rewarded by the fab exhibitions awaiting us as from the opening. To be missed on no account!

7. The Tour de France

July 9, 2022

We’re warning you: July 9th will be a day of celebrations in Lausanne. No need to introduce the iconic Tour de France that Lausanne has the honour of hosting for the sixth time (or, from our completely unbiased point of view, that will have the immeasurable good fortune of coming to the Olympic Capital). We wish good luck to the competitors who will cycle in Switzerland’s own small-scale San Francisco (yes, we do know they’ve faced other challenges before).

8. Japan Impact Convention

From August 20 to 21, 2022

What if we started the year with a trip to the other end of the world? Let’s head to Japan… without the 12-hour flight! The discovery of this incredibly intriguing country and its culture in all its forms happens at EPFL.

With these fantastic events ahead, we’re looking forward to spending the year 2022 in Lausanne. All the more so as other incredible rendezvous await us. Of course, we’ll keep you posted about all of them. And we wish for one thing only: to enjoy these times all together once more.
