A sandy beach?! Yes, we do also have our “Venice Beach” in Lausanne. A stone’s throw from the Vidy Skate Park, there are volleyball and basketball courts, as well as small fine-sand beaches for a stroll. Want shade? There is that too! All along the promenade, the small beaches are shaded by magnificent oaks. Take your snorkelling gear and who knows, you might meet Nemo!
As an Italian, I have to admit it’s difficult to find really good Italian places in Lausanne… Mauro Traiteur will transport you straight to the “land of gastronomy” during your lunch break! Try the focaccia with cured ham, it’s a proper delicacy! My tip: avoid going there at noon sharp as there’s often a queue!

OK, it’s a fact that coffee isn’t our strong point in Switzerland. However, I have recently discovered a small bar in the area under the train station that offers a rich variety of original coffees with aromas from all around the world.
