Richard Spaven Quartet

More info

The drummer Richard Spaven is one of the most distinctive rhythmic voices of the past two decades. He creates a space where jazz, hip-hop, club culture, and drum & bass intersect. His technical mastery and electronic sensitivity place groove at the center of his language, allowing him to control density, space, and pulse with clarity. Through collaborations with Loyle Carner, Jordan Rakei, Petter Eldh, and Alfa Mist, he has developed a recognizable playing style, elastic and full of feeling. Released on Edition Records, his eighth and latest album marks a new chapter for the drummer, establishing his status as a bandleader and composer with a clear and personal aesthetic. On stage or in the studio, the performances maintain the same intention: direct, physical, "in the pocket," where technique serves free expression across genres.
