Ella Maillart (1903-1997) was an extraordinary adventurer, as well as a photographer and writer, who spent extended periods of time in Asia. In 2025, her entire body of work was recognized by UNESCO. Photo Elysée wishes to pay tribute to this exceptional woman by drawing on her photographic archives, which consist of several thousand photographs all held in the museum’s collection.

Isao Takahata. A Pioneer of Contemporary Animation, from the Post-war Era to Studio Ghibli

The exhibition, unique in Switzerland, retraces Takahata’s career, from “Heidi, Girl of the Alps” (1974) to “Grave of the Fireflies” (1988) and “The Tale of The Princess Kaguya” (2013), through his notebooks and storyboards, original drawings, cels, film and video excerpts and audiovisual documents.

Most of the objects on display have been cleaned and stabilised by the MCAH's conservation-restoration laboratory.
