Here are some of the protective measures put in place to ensure your safety:
Hygiene of employees and customers
All people in the establishment wash their hands regularly with soap and water, particularly on arrival, as well as before and after breaks. Members of staff must always wash or disinfect their hands before performing the following tasks: laying tables, folding napkins, polishing cutlery. Customers must be able to wash their hands with soap and water or with disinfectant when they enter the establishment.
Members of staff and other people keep a distance of 1.5 metre apart. If a distance of less than 1.5 metre is necessary to perform certain tasks, people must reduce the duration of contact and/or take suitable protective measures.
The establishment ensures that customers waiting in line keep at least 1.5 metre apart from each.
No restrictions on the maximum number of persons per table
Groups until 4 persons, the clients provide their contact details on voluntary basis. For groups above 4 persons per table, at least 1 person needs to provide his/her contact details obligatory.
The establishment ensures that different groups of customers don’t mix. Groups of customers must be at least 2 metres apart. If a physical divider is put up between groups of customers, the minimal distance no longer needs to be maintained.
Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces
Surfaces and objects are regularly and properly cleaned after use, particularly if several people touch them. Door handles, lift buttons, stair handrails, chair armrests, coffee machines, kitchen utensils, cards, shelves, toilets, phones, etc.
Visitor centres are equipped with plexiglas protection screens and hydroalcoholic disinfectant is available for staff and customers. Every employee disinfects his or her hands before handing out material to a customer. The equipment used by staff members during the day is regularly cleaned and disinfected (cash register, phone, credit card reader, etc.).
2-metre distance and limit on number of people
Floor markings have been put in place to make sure people keep 2 metres apart, as well as arrows to indicate the way in and the way out. The number of customers is restricted to 2 inside the centre.
The national protection plan for public transport appeals to the individual responsibility and the solidarity of everyone. As far as it is possible, commuters are advised to avoid rush hours and choose trains/metros/buses when occupancy is low.
It is recommended to spread out on the platforms and in the carriages/trains; in the cases when the 2-metre distance can’t be maintained, wearing a hygienic mask is compulsory, as well in all shops hosting more then 10 persons at the same time, in accordance with guidelines from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). It is each person’s responsibility to obtain personal protection items.
Bus front/back doors
For the safety of bus drivers, the front doors of buses remain closed. All the back doors are manually opened by bus drivers at bus stops to eliminate the need to press on the door-opening buttons for passengers waiting at the bus stop. The stop-request button must nevertheless still be pressed to inform the driver.
Hygiene and cleaning
All the vehicles (buses and trains) are cleaned and disinfected every evening when they return to the depot. A mechanical chemical cleaning (hand friction) with a disinfectant product is undertaken systematically with special focus on contact points: handrails, stop-request and door-opening buttons, support handles, etc., as well as the driver’s cab (steering wheel, buttons, console, PVC, gate) and the m1’s and LEB’s cabins.
Every driver is given hydroalcoholic gel to disinfect their hands as well as detergent to clean the driver’s cab before every shift. A special separation between the driver and the first row of seats has been installed.
Every person, employee or visitor must regularly wash their hands with soap and water or disinfectant. Disinfectant is available at the entrance to the museum, at the cash desk, near the cloakroom’s lockers (and in any area where interactions take place).
Welcome desk and boutique
Flyers, documents, inspection copies and anything that could be manipulated have been removed. Payments are made, if possible, via credit card and doors stay wide open all day long. Equipment such as touchscreens or other objects is not handed out to visitors. If it needs to be, it is disinfected after each use, as are the audio guides. The preferred option, however, is for visitors to have their version on their own smartphone.
Members of staff and other people keep 2 metres apart from each other. To maintain that distance, museums resort to floor markings and waiting lines outside the building.
Employees must manage gatherings in places where people congregate with floor markings every 2 metres (welcome desk, toilets, cloakrooms). They must also make sure there is a limited number of people inside the museum: one person per 10 square metres.
Museums must maintain sufficiently long opening hours to avoid concentrations of visitors.
A cleaning programme with an increased frequency is implemented, as well as the regular disinfection of the surfaces that are frequently touched: lift buttons, door handles, stair handrails, office equipment, phones, computer keyboards, credit card readers. The premises are regularly aired to ensure air renewal.
