Bringing together an exceptional selection of works from the museum’s collection, this exhibition offers a fresh perspective on an artist whose relentless experimentation transformed the relationship between form, material and fire.

A master of stoneware and glazes, Chapallaz developed a distinctive body of work deeply rooted in the earth and the landscapes that surrounded him. Beyond their striking beauty, his ceramics celebrate slowness, an attentive engagement with materials, and a profound respect for natural processes.

Presented in “Le carré”, mudac’s new exhibition space, this project highlights the enduring relevance of Chapallaz’s practice, whose quiet restraint is matched only by its expressive power. It pays tribute to an artist who made ceramics not only an art form, but also a way of thinking, of feeling and of inhabiting the world.
