The Fondation de l’Hermitage – on a site that’s packed with charm and boasts a stunning view on Lausanne and its cathedral – impresses me every time. I never tire of viewing the exhibitions, with such refined harmony between the manor house and the displayed works!
A museum that puts up exhibitions and collections as beautiful as the setting that houses them. The residence and park offer a magnificent view over the Cathedral and lake. Cherry on the cake, the Restaurant L’Esquisse invites you to combine art and brunch.

Presenting important exhibitions in an exceptional setting, the Fondation de l’Hermitage is one of Lausanne’s most prized cultural attractions. Situated on the hills overlooking the city, the museum is housed in a beautiful 19th century manor, set in its own grounds with a view over the old city, Lake Geneva and the Alps.
With two to three exhibitions a year presenting works of an international scale, impressionist painters and sculptors like Degas and Gauguin are often featured at the Hermitage. On a more intimate scale, there is an extensive permanent collection of Chinese porcelain in the basement of the museum.
For an all-round enjoyable experience, the Fondation de l’Hermitage regularly organises cultural and gourmet events in the restaurant adjacent to the museum.
