Built entirely on a slope, the picturesque Rôtillon Quarter is one of the oldest in Lausanne.
Situated in the very centre, it connects different parts of the city. Its passageways and narrow alleys provide access to the rue Centrale from St-François and the rue de Bourg as well as the cathedral via the steps running down the side of the Gymnase de la Cité.
With its brightly coloured houses and buildings, its half-human, half-animal sculptures dotted about, its little shops, boutiques and bohemian stalls, its trendy bars and restaurants, the Rôtillon Quarter offers a delightful setting much prized by the people of Lausanne.
