In the second part of the 20th century, the theatre scene in Lausanne blossomed quite dramatically and became a place of artistic creation of international stature, most notably with tours by the Théâtre de Vidy.

Théâtre de Beaulieu
Located in the palace of the same name, near the centre of Lausanne, the Théâtre de Beaulieu is the biggest theatre in Switzerland, seating 1,844. The theatre’s varied programme focuses on dance, with performances by the prestigious Béjart Ballet Lausanne in particular.
