Clarence, the sporty spice

My name is Clarence Perez Diaz, half Swiss, half Spanish (comme la fondue moitié moitié), former professional volleyball player and Swiss Romande indoor rowing champion (1000m). With an academic background in sport (Master in Sport Management and then PhD in Sport Science), I work for the International Sports Medicine Federation and am the founder and one of the coaches of RowFit, a project that I started at Rowing-Club de Lausanne, in the incredible lakeside city of Lausanne, a place where everyone can get sporty. Sharing my love of sport with others in this beautiful place is a dream come true and brings a lot of fun and happiness to my life.
« For me, Lausanne with its three levels makes it’s a unique city – almost like 3 cities in 1! I love being by the water at the lake, enjoying the view and the fresh air. I also love the middle level of the city between the train station and Flon where everything is a bit trendier and goes a little faster. Finally, I love the old city (la cité) where you can take in the views and understand and feel the history of this medieval part of town. »

Lausanne is the best city to get fit!

What can be better than enjoying all that a great city has to offer and getting fit at the same time?! This can be so easy you don’t even realize you are already doing it! The locals are lucky to live in the vibrant city of Lausanne, which has more steps, hills and levels than any other city in Switzerland. Well, let’s use them! Climb those stairs in your daily routine. Read

About La Cité
I love it so much, but I pick a time when nobody will be there, usually in the evening and it makes me feel part of the city, like a queen running in her city where it is all mine since everyone else is at home. The challenge of running on cobbled streets and up and down the ancient steps makes this route a great parcour!
I love the feeling of being in the middle of town but with views of the Alps and the lake. Its location by the music conservatory of Lausanne and just up the road from the Opéra of Lausanne makes it a great stopover before enjoying some music.
Lara’s personal touch in putting together homemade, seasonal and healthy brunch boxes makes this a unique weekend treat. I love to pick one up and take it to my favourite spot in Lavaux, just outside the little village of Aran where you can enjoy the brunch under the shade of a tree, look out across the Lac Léman and maybe have a little siesta.
Slice Pizza is a cozy neighborhood pizza place, somewhere you always get a friendly welcome and a delicious pizza. One of my favourite things to order is the Abeille – who knew the combination of spicy salami and honey could be so tasty?!
